Harrison Ford is a best movie president

Posted in Celebrity news with tags on October 23, 2008 by funofmovie

If Harrison Ford runs for presidency, he will be tough competition for Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain.

In a poll conducted by AOL’s Moviefone.com earlier this week, Ford who portrayed US President James Marshall in 1997’s “Air Force One”, was voted the movie president who Americans would vote into office in real time.

The film had the “Indiana Jones” star fighting off airplane hijackers, evidently showing that Americans would prefer a president who can kick butt.

Ford took 24 per cent of the votes, while runner-up Morgan Freeman took 16 per cent, playing a president with a mission to save mankind from a comet heading for Earth in 1998’s “Deep Impact”.

“It seems everybody is looking for a commander-in-chief who can come in and take command,” said Moviefone editor-in-chief Scott Robson. “Our readers voted with their hearts at a time when you have the economy going down the tubes, but in an ideal world it would be great to have a president who can kick some ass.”

Michael Douglas, who played a widowed president looking for love in “The American President” came in third with 15 per cent of votes and Bill Pullman, who fought aliens in “Independence Day” (1996), followed with 12 per cent.

Other ‘presidents’ in the poll include Billy Bob Thornton, Kelsey Grammer, Jack Nicholson and Gene Hackman.

Catherine Zeta Jones

Mask of Zorro Catherine Zeta Jones

is a successful actress and she is very beautiful woman. She has the ability to dazzle in her film roles. Her professional and personal life is constantly discussed in media.

The most recent story when Catherine, 39, appeared in public looking horrible surprised all of us. But it didn’t antagonize us from her. Moreover, we probably started to love her even more when we realized she was an ordinary person with the same problems millions of others have.

has always dressed well and now I offer you to take a look back at her fashion and style over the years, through some of her film choices…

The Mask Of Zorro (1998)

When Catherine played her perfect part in this film she became a great star not only in the UK, where she had already been famous, but also in Hollywood. Opposite the gorgeous , Catherine looked wonderfully wearing the corset.

Chicago (2002)

This film by was a peculiar sensation. She played hot Roxie.

She looked like a megastar with her smokey eyes, bob cut and the flapper fashion. Perfect role and perfect looks.

The Changeling Premiere

There’s no surprise that Angelina Jolie is in New York promoting her new movie Changeling.

The good thing is that she gave interviews and she talked about her new movie, her family and the twins.

About her role in The Changeling

Angelina-jolie-il-buco-restaurant-in-new-york

Your worst fear is anything happening to your kids. The reason I didn’t want to do the film for a long time … every day I came home, and I was so clinging to my kids. I was grabbing them. And checking them in the night. It scares me.

Not nervous as much as I just took a deep breath because it¹s been so long. It felt a little strange.

Everybody’s great. The babies are getting big and healthy and developing personalities. We are a little bit [sleep deprived]. We have some help a couple of nights a week, so on those nights we catch up on our sleep.

I run around with all the other kids, and I’m breastfeeding, which I think is a part of your body’s recovery. I feel great [and] feel very happy that they’re healthy.

10 Most Overpaid Movie Stars – Part 1

Posted in Celebrity news with tags , , , , , , , , , on October 2, 2008 by funofmovie

10. Nicole Kidman

Sexy Nicole Kidman

Sexy Nicole Kidman

Kidman has an Oscar and earns $15 million paydays, but she’s proved to offer a poor return on investment. Despite bringing in $370 million in worldwide box office, The Golden Compass only grossed $3.36 for every dollar Kidman was paid.

The Invasion lost $2.68 for every dollar that went to Kidman. She has a chance for a high-profile comeback with this fall’s epic Australia, which could earn the Aussie her third best actress nomination.

For every dollar she was paid, Nicole Kidman’s movies averaged $1 of gross income.

9. Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner

Garner has stayed fairly under the radar since her 2005 big-budget disaster Elektra, which cost $40 million to make and earned only $56 million worldwide. Unfortunately for Garner her follow-up films didn’t do much better.

Both Catch and Release and The Kingdom underperformed at the box office.

For every dollar she was paid, Jennifer Garner’s movies averaged $3.60 of gross income.

8. Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise

His recent cameo as a foul-mouthed studio exec in Tropic Thunder is earning raves and might usher in the era of Tom Cruise comedies. In the meantime, Cruise has to deal with the fallout from his recent dramatic blunder, Lions for Lambs.

The film’s box office ($63 million worldwide) was bad enough that even without taking any upfront pay Cruise still earned the movie only $1.88 for every dollar he was paid.

For every dollar he was paid, Tom Cruise’s movies averaged $4 of gross income.

7. Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz

The highest paid actress in Hollywood, Diaz pulled in $50 million last year.

But her high salary makes it hard for the romantic comedies she stars in to earn a good return.

The Holiday brought in $205 million worldwide but Diaz’s high payday meant the film only grossed $3.70 for every dollar Diaz was paid.

For every dollar she was paid, Cameron Diaz’s movies averaged $4 of gross income.

6. Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez

The singer/actress/designer has struggled at the box office for the past few years, choosing small projects like 2006’s El Cantante, a low-budget musical biopic starring her husband Marc Anthony, which barely registered at the box office.

Her last big film was 2005’s Monster-in-Law, which grossed $155 million worldwide returning $6.85 for every dollar Lopez was paid.

For every dollar she was paid, Jennifer Lopez’s movies averaged $4.10 of gross income.

5. Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey

Long gone are the days when Carrey could attract crowds with his talking backside.

The actor’s latest attempt at a serious film, last year’s The Number 23, flopped at the box office, earning only $77 million worldwide.

Jim Carrey has a chance to turn things around with this winter’s Yes Man. Carrey has so much faith in the comedy that he reportedly took no money upfront for his starring performance.

For every dollar he was paid, Jim Carrey’s movies averaged $4.11 of gross income.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Hollywood filmmaker Sydney Pollack, who won a pair of Academy Awards for the epic romance “Out of Africa” and earned praise for acting stints in films including “Tootsie” and “Michael Clayton,” died on Monday after a battle with cancer, his spokeswoman said. He was 73.

During a varied career spanning almost half a century, Pollack directed such stars as Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford in “The Way We Were,” Tom Cruise in “The Firm” and Dustin Hoffman in “Tootsie.” Redford starred in seven of his films, including “Out of Africa,” alongside Meryl Streep.

Pollack died at his home in the coastal Los Angeles suburb of Pacific Palisades at about 5 p.m. local time. He was diagnosed with cancer about 10 months ago, but doctors were never able to determine the primary source of the disease, said spokeswoman Leslee Dart.

Things seem to have just gone south after all those people were injured on the set of Valkyrie. And the film just hit another roadblock. Its release got pushed back until 2009.

Tom Cruise is on a roll here! His last movie Lions for Lambs grossed only $15 million. Long gone are the days of Tom being able to create a blockbuster. His best saving grace would be to put Suri in something.

Rumor of the Moment: Madonna Wants to Remake ‘Casablanca’

Posted in Celebrity news with tags , , , on April 1, 2008 by funofmovie

Madonna Wants to Remake ‘Casablanca’Whenever I see one of these sorts of stories, my inner core of movie fandom shudders. What if THIS is the one that’s not a rumor?

The Daily Mail claims that Madonna is looking to remake Casablanca — not as a copy-cat Psycho redo, but modernized and set in Iraq. Their studio source says: “She is still determined to make it in the movies. She and her representatives have been touting around a project which is a remake of Casablanca. The reception has been lukewarm to say the least. No one can understand why she wants to redo what many people consider the greatest film of all time.” Maybe because she’s crazy? Perhaps Swept Away … swept away more than just her remaining movie cred.

To top this off, she also wants to star in it, regardless of the fact that’s she’s nearing the big 5-0, and Ingrid Bergman was much, much younger. Then again, this is supposed to be modernized, so anything could happen! (If a studio is nuts enough to say yes. There’s a good chance every studio will run, and keep this just a rumor, but all you need is one interested person with enough money…)
Casablanca should stay in the ranks of history, and especially away from Madonna. However, what I would be interested in seeing is daughter Isabella taking on one of her mother’s iconic roles, even in a simple short film.
What do you think? Are you super-excited about seeing Casablanca: Iraq Style?
