Get Smart Movie 20 June 2008

Get Smart is an upcoming 2008 film adaptation of Mel Brooks and Buck Henry’s hit 1960s spy parody television show Get Smart. The film will star Steve Carell as Maxwell Smart and Anne Hathaway as Agent 99. Alan Arkin will play the Chief. Masi Oka, Terence Stamp, Dwayne Johnson and Dalip “The Great Khali” Singh will also star. Bill Murray and Patrick Warburton make cameos in the film, as does Bernie Kopell, who played Siegfried in the original series. A nod to the original TV series star also may be present in the film. The trailer includes a scene with Agents 86 and 99 onboard a jumbo jet flagged as “Yarmy International Airways.” Yarmy is the real last name of original Get Smart series star Don Adams.

Shooting began March 21, 2007 and wrapped on June 25, 2007. It is rated PG-13 by the MPAA “for some crude humor, action violence and language.”

  3. […] Get Smart finished in first place for the fourth consecutive day and, barring something unforeseen, will keep this streak alive until it falls to third place on Friday. The Steve Carell comedy earned $5,119,453 yesterday, which is a total representative of 85% of The Incredible Hulk’s business last Monday, $6,010,045. I say this as a point of reference for making the statement that Get Smart had a much better first weekday than Hulk. The explanation is that the spy spoof earned only 70% of the weekend box office of its comic book counterpart. Closing the gap this much percentage-wise is not wholly unexpected given Hulk’s now-proven lousy legs, but it’s one of only three true positives in yesterday’s top ten. […]

  4. Get Smart looks okay over all though it seems like Steve Carell is veering toward an excess of slapstick humor
